Default Jade Quarry event interest check

Most people know that I've been stating for a while that AB and JQ represent untapped potential to create new, interesting formats of play that are ultimately lost from their random nature.

.... oh wait, there are no randoms at Jade Quarry. The place is empty. The greatest number of people I've seen there off holiday is 2. So, technically, if we wanted to have an event or something there and not have to worry about randoms, we really don't have to do anything other than organize and show up.

Of course, I wouldn't expect this to not get "infiltrated" after a few rounds, but right now I'm just trying to see if there's interest:

If I set up a time, would anyone be interested in some pick-up or premade 8v8 games of Jade Quarry?

I would love to do this. There are a couple people (six in all) in my alliance that want to play in there also. If you set up a date and time, I can bring about half a team.

I've never even played in the arena except for mapping. I can maybe come depending on time and if I am not in middle of tombs run grinding fame.

Is the format any good? I don't know how it works, only went in when everyone ran around mapping.

Prior experience tells me that it's going to be overrun and derailed by mappers and ragequitters, but hopefully, we can get some more good times out of this.

<-- IGN. You'd have to contact me in game, but I'm always up for doing JQ. I like to play Kurzick.

if the luxons show up, you won't have a hard time finding kurzicks. most of us that knows better would prefer jade.

If both sides sync-join then it should be pretty easy to control that. As I said, I DO expect randoms to find their way in at some point or other, so only a couple synced games should be reasonably expected.

If interest checks out, I'm not going to make the time public to minimize the chances of interference, and the outposts will be scouted for potential interference in advance.

It's shrine capping and NPC protection. It's fairly interesting in that there are multiple ways to advance your side and hinder the enemy. There are three quarry points on the map, grabbing one spawns a jade carrier for your side. If the carrier makes it back to base alive, you gain a point. First to 10 wins.

Speed boosts and snares work on the carriers. Body blocking doesn't, attempting to body block a carrier will cause you to get punted and take damage.

Arguably a potentially very interesting format.

If it is on a time I can make it, I will give it a try. As you said, it can be an interesting format.

So, you're pretty much saying you want to not have any outsiders?

How are you going to possibly reveal any untapped potential in not letting the public join in?

I wouldn't mind playing in this. Since its been so long since I've played JQ, it'll be like a new game mode. Hopefully the time will be reasonable.

Can you actually knock down those jade carriers? And do they bleed? Checked both wikis, but nothing there.

If I may have any influence on that decision, this weekend is no longer an option for me. I'd prefer not to be bothered on why.

Played it during another event ages ago, it was RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing terrible. Then again, so is the fardefence map in AB. This map will at least feel a little new, so if it is at a convenient time i'd love to be there.

I remember playing this map back when Shadow of Haste was in it's broken state. By far one of the funniest things you could do in Guild Wars.

I do think there is a balance reason why Aspenwood is played and this one isn't. In Aspenwood there are only a few tactics and builds that are somewhat broken, but I think there are some tactics in JQ that are pretty stupid. Since the arena is never played there hasn't really ever been changes to it so you'll probably spot some stupid things, but it would be fun for a couple of battles.
